Riots have ensued following a disagreement between two merchant communities on Ord Mantell 1740 GST. The two communities, Bothan and Gran, claim that they didn’t want it to escalate to this level but there has been growing tensions ever since a Union was formed in the Trader’s Quarter, which caused the Gran merchants to suffer at taxing changes for their cargo. Local residents ask that authorities act appropriately at the parties, and not at them. They fear that the violence by the local enforcement may give them a reason to conduct corrupt policing searches, using the riots as a cover.

Galactic Press received an encoded message written in Huttese yesterday evening. Permission from local authorities of the Republic has allowed us to air this message, which undoubtedly states the declaration of war against the Jedi Order.

People of the Republic,

Republic Officials state that there should be no panic, that investigations into the Dark Shield have been growing and this latest message will allow a crucial strike in the heart of the criminal organisation. More as it develops.

After long deliberation, Senator Aprin Synax has passed a vote that will allow the system to use Republic currency. He gave a enlightening speech at the peak of his campaigning. He stated, “With the local trade routes running through this space, there’s a highway of wealth that we’re simply ignoring; wealth that could help us develop our education and local transport issues, and hopefully become a tourist spot for this sector”. The change will effect the local industry of intergalactic ship trading and repair franchises in a positive light, allowing them to become more affordable and hopefully introducing a new crowd of economy into the far-reached system.

As fear swells within the Republic with the death toll from the aggressive flu strand increases, medical practitioners and physiologists alike have been scrambling for the answer; a cure. Currently, there are many in the core who are isolated from humanitarian and medical support, though this may soon change, specifically for those suffering upon Coruscant.

In a breath-taking show of compassion, the two co-founders of Archlight Enterprise, now known today as AE-Technologies, one of the leading companies and organizations in military innovation, has donated 750 million credits to the cause. The pair went even further by sending a team of professionals on a potentially one way trip into the heart of the quarantine zone, Coruscant, in order to assist with the ongoing flu outbreak, which has now claimed hundreds of thousands of lives across numerous planets.

Doctor Aitress Xirmas and Scientific Engineer, Kalmaris Xirmas founded AE-Technologies back in 318.23 ABY. Married with two children of their own, Kalmaris had this to say for the galaxy…

Here at AE-Technologies, we hold a profound dedication to the continued efforts of the Republic Governance, that has kept us all safe for so long and seen to the success of our business with joint government projects. We now feel it’s time for us to give back, as we cannot ignore the demand for medicinal aid any longer. We have not forgotten those in need and hence forth, our single focus is going to be on the restoration and purification of Coruscant.In addition, I would like to condemn those who wish to downplay the significance of this pandemic. This outbreak will only get worse before it gets better, so more action is needed, not less. In response, others have stepped forward to produce similar notions of support and tribute to Coruscant and its neighbouring systems. The Galactic Republic’s spokesperson for the Senate has yet to comment on AE-Technologies’ donation. When approached for an interview, they refused and claimed the situation was under control, yet the controversial move by Arclight Enterprise seems to suggests otherwise.

Quarantine zone as of 333.09 ABY.

The quarantine zone in the core systems was increased today as infections reportedly sprouted in nearby systems. The recent infection rates have increased to 1,500 with fifty-nine recorded fatalities. The quarantine zone, which now rivals the size of space of the Mandalorian zone, occupies the following systems:

There are fears that the containment of this epidemic has failed. The Republic has offered little to answer to the recent increase other than a basic statement from the Minister of Health Yoka Bariin, claiming: “The Republic has taken measures to increase the quarantine soon to prevent further infection. Please do not take this as a representation of the reach of the infection; the zone has increased to compensate for the potential of spreading on trade routes. We do not predict it to spread, and are currently in the process of fighting back against the flu.”

In light of the new quarantine extensions, it was reported the Jedi Order had run several aid missions to these newly added systems prior to the ruling. This means that these systems have received helpful medical aid in the form of antibiotics, rations and basic medicines. These supplies are said to last several months. Hopefully these resources gifted by the Jedi Order last long enough for the cure to be completed and deployed.

There are fears that the epidemic has gone too far and is irreversible, but there are significant resources being deployed into medical research and testing into a potential cure. More as it develops.
