326.30 // Diplomacy on Iridonia Fails.

The long civil war on Iridonia was met with hopes of a conclusion last night, as all four warring clan leaders agreed to meet. The governing figures of the Be’Tominyet, Ul’Narit, Rak’Slaret and Tul’Vyi clans sat down with Republic mediators to help establish new territories as well as draft up a treaty that would respect the four clan’s territorial integrity over their new regions. However, the negotiations were cut short as the meeting was raided by a band of Tul’Vyi rebels, allegedly under instruction from Tul’Vyi’s leading body.

These failed attempts at peace talks come as the controversial Republic military presence above Iridonia appears to be nearing its end. The blockade, that has long regulated all material entering and leaving the system, has slowly dwindled, with vessels returning to the core in small numbers over the last cycle. This likely comes as a result of the backlash seen in the Senate, with much of the affiliate membership proposing large scale cuts to military funding.

With the decline of the Republic’s presence on Iridonia, the fighting looks unlikely to stop. However, the failed peace talks have created a large turning point in the war, as the Tul’Vyi have become the new primary target of the other regional factions. The Be’Tominyet and the Ul’Narit have already established a formal truce, with each of them beginning to co-ordinate their troops cohesively with the other. The Rak’Slaret has also withdrawn troops from its neighbouring clan’s territory to reassign them to border protection, where it’s region meets with the Tul’Vyi’s land. All eyes are on the Tul’Vyi to see what they will do next, as it becomes the prime antagonist of the war, still remaining the largest and best equipped of the four clans.

325.10 // CEO of Agos Co Arrested

coruscant_images_5

The first major arrest since the commission, issued against industry corruption, was celebrated by the senate majority and law enforcement officials today, as CEO of Agos Co, Markus Kans was among the first high profile member in the company to be taken into custody. Kans was charged with two counts of conspiracy to murder, three counts of first degree murder, numerous counts of extortion and tax evasion. He likely faces a life time sentence, with the findings of the commission creating an overwhelmingly compelling case against him.

Several share holders have also been arrested for their involvement in the extortion and tax evasion charges, although what sentence they are facing is unclear at this time. Senator Sandria spoke to the media for the first time since the commission was announced today, after being cleared of the allegations staged against her regarding the detention centre scandal. She commented on the murder of her colleagues, of which the commission confirmed Agos Co responsible. “Today we have seen justice for the murder of three of my good friends and loyal servants of the Republic. Today we see the fall of Agos Co as it pays for its wrong doings. Never again should we allow the self interests of companies like Agos Co threaten our great democracy. I call upon Senator Wrex, who for so long defended Agos Co, to reflect on his actions”. Senator Wrex has since resigned as a result of an intense public backlash.

As the commission is  only in its infancy, many are expecting further arrests. The profit projections of Agos Co predict bankruptcy within the end of this cycle, as the commission has affected productivity and further boycotts against the corrupt company have been met with large scale success.  Economists have warned of the economic implications of Agos Co’s demise and will propose a new economic plan to the Senate in three days.

325.05 // Core Killer Caught!

Coruscant’s Security Force have solved the “Killer in the Core” case, subsiding fears of the serial killer in the quiet yet aristocratic suburb in sector 0023.

Security were seen with renown Jedi Investigator, Jao Ryn, who earlier today left the “Tatooine Suns Condominiums and Spa” with alleged serial killer who has been identified as Xen Kedrim.

Chief Locier said at a press conference that ‘they were able to identify the serial killer as Xen Kedrim due to Master Ryn’s ability to scrutinize evidence with a sharp mind and flare of the Force.’

Xen Kedrim, 62, has a history of domestic abuse, specifically beating his wife to death under the accusation that his wife cheated on him with a member of the law enforcement.

When security stormed into the condominium, law enforcement, with the aid of Ryn, were able to find an unlicensed blaster that the security force have evidence to believe to be the murder weapon.

Xen Kedrim has been arrested for first-degree murder. He is currently awaiting trial with the foreboding judgement of possible death.

Until then, the Galaxy will be holding its breath as we wait for the most anticipated trial of the decade to ensue.

325.02 // Killer in the Core

A serial killer is on the loose, blasting down spouses of respected law enforcement figures on doorsteps, say security forces on the capital world of Coruscant.

Residents in the higher levels of Coruscant, in the wealthy section 0023, were warned today as new evidence linking several murders emerges.

Law enforcement announced yesterday, the death of Kiro Kem, who was found dead with lethal blaster burns, is being investigated in connection with two other unsolved murders that took place in similar circumstances just blocks from each other. Kem’s wife, a venerable officer on the security force, refused to comment.

Security Chief Kenvar Locier said at a press conference that they suspect Kem’s killer was also responsible for the murder of Vanara Lox (last year) and Syelk Cerso (two cycles ago).

Ballistics results for the murders confirm common impact zones and blaster residue for the three cases. However, Locier wouldn’t say for certain whether the same weapon was used in all three shootings.

‘The cases appear to be linked, but until we have evidence to point to only one suspect, we will investigate all possibilities,’ Locier said.

All three murders took place at the same time of day after the victims presented themselves at the front door.

Law enforcement officers are currently looking for an older, humanoid man.

No motive has been established for any of the killings, which law enforcement officers fear may spark chaos in the community. Locier said this afternoon that residents should be vigilant and should avoid answering their door for strangers, but warned that no-one overreact. So far, residents have taken the warning relatively well.

There have been rumors that the security force may seek Jedi aid; however, no validation to such a claim has been made as of yet.

325.01 // The Galaxy’s Latest

Recently in galactic news..

Republic listening stations have recently reported sighting an Imperial battle-fleet crossing the Republics borders. While this would ordinarily signal an invasion on the Empires part, the stations report having lost sight of the armada as it was heading westward into the Unknown Regions. Both the Council of Grand Moffs and the Emperor himself refuse to comment.

Negotiations between Republic diplomats and Mandalorian clan leaders could potentially be drawing to a close, according to inside sources. While nothing is certain about what has been discussed over the past few years of talks, it is rumoured that a place in the Republic Senate may be offered to this infamously independent of worlds. As usual both the current Mandalore as well as his chieftains are tight-lipped for now, as is the Republic Senate.

Referendums are expected in the coming cycles on the worlds of Ord Biniir and Ord Canfre as the peoples of both worlds decide on whether they want to secede from the Republic and formally join the Empire. Apparently the falling standards of the economy in the region as well as increasing levels of piracy are causing the governments of both worlds to look for, as they put it, ‘more secure and determined alternatives to a collection of high-class, disconnected senators living on Coruscant.’
