328.03 // Ord Biniir and Ord Canfre Secede!

Galactic Senate Background

Breaking news from the Senate, in another session which was heavily dominated by the growing concerns of the flu epidemic, the representatives of both Ord Biniir and Ord Canfre announce the decision to break away from the Republic.

Information suggests both systems are angling to join the Empire, who have reportedly been more efficient in countering what little cases of flu they have. While no one can fault the decision to switch allegiances for the betterment of their people, some have not taken too kindly to the move which further damages the image of the Republic. However, no official switch has been made, as both systems remain neutral.

The Senate waits with bated breath to see if any other systems leave, causing what looks to be the beginnings of a time of anxiety and hysteria.

327.29 // Possible Health Crisis | Budgeting Inefficiencies

Coruscant Senate Chambers

At an open session in the Senate, the Secretary for Health, Kov Glorin, advised the Chief of State cases of individuals with flu symptoms have vastly increased to the point of intolerance. With the expectation more antibiotics will boost immune systems in those primarily vulnerable, such as children and elderly citizens, concerns are the cost of production may spin out of control in the process of fighting and containing this flu.

As the economy gradually recovers from the War, fears of possible costs on this scale could deliver a crippling blow to reconstruction. However, with the rise of people seeking medical aid for long periods of fever like symptoms, it’s been suggested the Galaxy could be facing a wide spread epidemic.

The Senate has begun to investigate and scrutinize these cases more closely prior to making any calls of labeling the growing concern as a ‘plague crisis’. It has been rumored other systems will be approached as it’s believed this may become a shared problem for every system in the known Galaxy.

327.09 // Civil War on Iridonia Comes to an End

Iridonia

Finally, the drawn out conflict on Iridonia has experienced a welcomed conclusion, with the Tul’Vyi clan scattered and in ruins. The fighting officially ended with the defeat of Zaion, Tul’Vyi’s clan leader, who was reportedly captured then arrested by two Jedi Knights, who were among the handful of Jedi aiding the assault on the Tul’Vyi’s stronghold. The Order has not yet commented on its role on the war’s resolution. Galactic aid organizations have flooded the surface of Iridonia, as the clean up effort is officially underway.

With an overwhelmingly compelling case against Zaion, organized by the Republic’s Prosecution Office, the shamed warlord faces a severe punishment of life in high security detainment.

The war torn planet has already begun repair, as governing bodies are slowly restored, allowing a plan for Iridonia’s future domestic and galactic trade prospects to be drafted up, as the victorious clans all seek a much needed economic reboot. While leading economists predict it’ll be sometime before the planet’s credit rating returns to acceptable levels, neighbouring systems seek to benefit from a rebuilding Iridonia, showing that the end of the civil war will prompt prosperity for the region.

The conquered territory of the Tul’Vyi has already been fairly divided into three sectors, each representing an expansion of the triumphant clans, the Be’Tominyet, Ul’Narit and Rak’Slaret, who cohesively defeated the ruthless invading clan.

For now, it seems peace will prevail on Iridonia for the foreseeable future.

327.03 // Republic and Mandalorian peace talks come to a surprising conclusion

MandalorianRep2

News from the senate today indicates that the on going peace talks with their Mandalorian counter parts have finally come to a conclusion. The result of the talks have said to have been “positive and productive” which suggests that topics like territory, diplomacy and trade have been agreed.

The Mandalorians are likely to remain an Independent body as they have done for many years, but with the Republic representatives returning with such a positive response, it’s likely that there could be an increase in communication between the two groups who were once at War with one another for a long period of time.

Additional information has yet to be released, but at this early stage, things are now looking positive for the Republic.

326.30 // Diplomacy on Iridonia Fails.

The long civil war on Iridonia was met with hopes of a conclusion last night, as all four warring clan leaders agreed to meet. The governing figures of the Be’Tominyet, Ul’Narit, Rak’Slaret and Tul’Vyi clans sat down with Republic mediators to help establish new territories as well as draft up a treaty that would respect the four clan’s territorial integrity over their new regions. However, the negotiations were cut short as the meeting was raided by a band of Tul’Vyi rebels, allegedly under instruction from Tul’Vyi’s leading body.

These failed attempts at peace talks come as the controversial Republic military presence above Iridonia appears to be nearing its end. The blockade, that has long regulated all material entering and leaving the system, has slowly dwindled, with vessels returning to the core in small numbers over the last cycle. This likely comes as a result of the backlash seen in the Senate, with much of the affiliate membership proposing large scale cuts to military funding.

With the decline of the Republic’s presence on Iridonia, the fighting looks unlikely to stop. However, the failed peace talks have created a large turning point in the war, as the Tul’Vyi have become the new primary target of the other regional factions. The Be’Tominyet and the Ul’Narit have already established a formal truce, with each of them beginning to co-ordinate their troops cohesively with the other. The Rak’Slaret has also withdrawn troops from its neighbouring clan’s territory to reassign them to border protection, where it’s region meets with the Tul’Vyi’s land. All eyes are on the Tul’Vyi to see what they will do next, as it becomes the prime antagonist of the war, still remaining the largest and best equipped of the four clans.

More to come…
