306.04 // Hapes Consortium Become Independent Power

The world of Hapes and its colonies have followed Bastions example today and finalised their status as an independent, sovereign people, free of the Galactic Republic and the Senate.

Originally joining with the New Republic out of necessity during the Yuuzhan Vong War, relations with the Hapes Consortium were strengthened greatly in the past by the continued efforts of such notable Jedi Masters as Luke Skywalker. However, increasing economic woes since the Commonwealth Secessionary War have not been well received by the Queen Mother of Hapes and the recent struggles with ‘Darth Rishi’, followed by the Chiss and Mandalorians have only served to strengthen the Hapan peoples grievances.

Despite the Hapans steadfast dedication to the Alliance war effort during the conflict with the Chiss and Mandalorians, the following weakness of the galactic economy aswell as the ‘weak, pandering treaty’ the Alliance agreed to have left the Hapan people dissatisfied with continued membership. While the Queen Mother insists that the Consortium wishes absolutely no ill-will on the Republic she also made clear her people must ‘follow their own path.’

It is not yet clear what will happen to the numerous Hapans that claim membership within the Jedi Order; whether they will continue their service or return home. What is known however is that from today, the Hapes Consortium stands as an independent power once more.

306.02 // The Empire Officially Becomes a Sovereign State

The status of Bastion as an independent and sovereign world was finally formalised today, amidst the sounds of cheering and celebrating crowds on Bastions streets.

A long-time adversary of the New Republic, both powers came together to fight a common adversary during the Yuuzhan Vong war almost three centuries ago. The Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, as the union of powers came to be officially known, stood as the dominant force and government in the galaxy until the conflict with Darth Krayyt almost a century later and the Commonwealth War of Secession another century after.

The recent “Attrition Wars” left a Bastion much displeased with Alliance rule. Suffering widespread devastation very early in the war, Imperial citizens have long held that their world has received minimal treatment and consideration compared to other similarly devastated worlds such as Dac or Mygeeto. The Imperial government has long held that Alliance relief has been minimal and that their voice in the Alliance Senate has been increasingly marginalised in favour of ‘rising stars’ in the Alliance, notably New Alderaan or Onderon.

Anti-Alliance sentiment reached a height with the signing of the Treaty of Mygeeto, bringing an official end to the war. The majority of Imperial citizens felt angered and betrayed over what they describe as the ‘ridiculously light and shameful’ terms put forth towards the Ascendancy.

With the Empires secession the Republic loses one of its key fortress worlds and shipyards in the galactic North-West as well as one of the Alliance navies and armies largest contributors. News agencies and Republic diplomats are uncertain as to what form the new Empire will take and whether or not they will resurrect some of the Empires more ‘memorable’ institutions from former times like the Imperial Knights. Such a thing would undoubtedly cause a stir among those in the Jedi Order, an institution that has stood unrivalled since the fall of Darth Krayyt.

More news on these developments as it comes…

303.04 // New Republic Era Heralded In, Along With Key Secessions.

Two key members of the former Galactic Alliance are reportedly withdrawing from the New Galactic Republic.

The Hapes Consortium has stated their intention to function as a sovereign system after dissatisfaction with the proposed republic administration as well as the existing GA, Ascendancy and Mandalorian treaties.

Following them are the representatives of the Imperial Remnant, who have returned to their capital world Bastion, unhappy with the terms offered to the Chiss Ascendancy in the GA treaty. Insiders believe it likely that this will signal a withdrawal from the New Galactic Republic.

If the reports are true it will represent a significant loss of military and naval support for the New Republic, although the withdrawals are unlikely to be opposed.

303.04 // Breaking News: The New Galactic Republic is Born!

Breaking News from the Senate, we cross over live where a public address is about to be made by Chief Of State Malucia, in relation to the talks which have been on going for some time now.

This, live, from the Senate:

Today marks a truly historical moment and change, not only for the hard working representatives of the Senate, but for all the hard working people of the systems which they represent. The very people who shared a tremendously different period throughout the war but who now share a new journey to rebuild what is left of our worlds, our culture, our people and our homes.

It has been an honor and privilege to enter into discussions with the representatives of the Commonwealth, forming and detailing a plan for stability and regrowth. In which an agreement has been set, where the systems of the Commonwealth will rejoin the Senate and together, with the Galactic Alliance, we will enter into a new era. A new era that we will all work diligently to maintain and uphold, for the people that we serve, for those that depend on a strong Senate for stability and truth.

This era, will be led by, the New Galactic Republic.

– Chief Of State Malucia.

302.28 // Terms Agreed In ‘Non Aggression Pact’ Between The GA And Mandalorians.

Breaking News of progress being made in the talks between the Galactic Alliance and the Mandalorian Forces over a possible ‘Non Aggression Pact’ which would see a more certain continuation of the cease fire agreed upon by the two sides.

Newly appointed Deputy Chief Of State Asujin Tirahimo, granted during the changes made within the Senate recently, in her first official role was present at these talks in hope that an agreement can be met. So far we can confirm that the Mandalorians are agreeing to the following terms;

Reduction in the numbers of specific classes and size of ships currently being produced within Mandalorian space.

Release of all prisoners of war currently being held by Mandalorian forces.

Released control of all seized planetary systems during the War, as well as all military personnel pulled back into Mandalorian space.

In return, the Galactic Alliance has agreed to ease border controls around the Mandalorian territories to allow economics in all capacities to resume. Though it is said that monitoring will continue for the time being but with lesser restrictions for arrival and departures.

With this agreeable to both sides, it is confirmed that the pact will be signed tomorrow to allow for final reviews to happen.
