289.13 // Cease Fire Offer Rejected on Serenno

Serennoan rebels delivered an emphatic “no” to an Ascendancy proposal for an end to fighting in their world, insisting that Chiss forces must relinquish their hold on the planet as part of any diplomatic solution.

The opposition council’s announcement after closed-door talks with an Ascendancy on Bobecc quashed hopes for an early end to the nearly 2-year-old conflict between Ascendancy forces and opposition fighters on Serenno.

“The Ascendancy’s ceasefire initiative does not include the departure of their military and political rulers from our world, therefore it is unacceptable,” Commander Ahlstan Rhan of rebel forces said at Torwyn, the rebels’ de facto capital. “We will not negotiate on the blood of our martyrs. We will die with them or be victorious.”

Commander Rhan said the proposal had been around for more than a cycle. Rebels also said it was unacceptable because it did not call for the Ascendancy to withdraw its forces from besieged cities and did not allow protests, which is a key opposition demand.

The Galactic Alliance also greeted news of the Ascendancy’s openness to a cease-fire with suspicion. Secretary-General Ranth Anzaria at a Coruscanti news briefing that Ascendancy forces had demonstrated that they “did not keep their promises,” local news service reported.

Meanwhile, Chiss fighters continued to attack the rebel-held city of Rekonn. Among many of the people killed was a 3-year-old girl, Breanna Latt, whose parents brought her body to one of the makeshift field hospitals in the city. Many more were wounded, said the doctor, who asked that his name not be published for security reasons.

“Nobody is supporting civilians but everybody is saying they are supporting civilians,” said the doctor. “We don’t know how the people promising to help us are helping us.”

289.04 // New Violence on Serenno

In the wake of the destruction of the Ascendancy naval force orbiting Serenno, and the terrible massacre of the uprising of Spince, rebel forces have once again taken up arms on the planet’s surface.

Unlike it’s predecessor, freedom fighters have begun to gain ground in their campaign for liberty. With Coalition forces establishing a no-fly zone in the planet’s orbit, the Ascendancy has not been able land another biological attack against opposing forces. Also unlike the dissenters who came before, these new citizen soldiers are not relying on hit and run tactics to make their presence felt. Funded by an unknown source, and well equipped, the people of Serenno are marching in force, taking the fight to Chiss forces.

Already the cities of Bobecc, Torwyn, and and Rekonn have fallen. As the rebels continue to gain support from town to town, a march on the capital city of Roosh is sure to be expected in the cycles to come. When such a march finally comes, we here at the Galactic Holonews News Desk will be first on the scene, and first to give you a full report.

288.31 // Bri’jien’nuruodo Captured

Reports from Coalition High Command have boasted the capture of feared Ascendancy Admiral, Bri’jien’nuruodo. Reports of this came shortly after word reaches the ears of GHN reporters of a firefight being held over Serenno, the last known location of the Admiral.

“Chasing down the face of the war effort was a process,” commented Admiral Wilkinson of Coalition High Command. “But with the resources we had, it was simply a matter of appointing the proper leadership to put those resources into action.”

No public statement has been released from the Ascendancy regarding the capture of their Admiral, even in the wake of him being delivered to a POW holding facility on Coruscant in chains.

Admiral Bri’jien’nuruodo was largely responsible for the failed counterattack on Ascendancy colonized worlds. Could this be a turning point in the war effort?

Regardless, chances of another Coalition offensive in the former Commonwealth territories are high. A dangerous adversary in the war effort has been nuetralized, but the fighting is far from over.

We here at the Galactic Holonews News Desk will keep you apprised of new updates as they develop.

288.23 // Siege on Serenno Lifted

Following a multi-cycle offensive, sources inside Coalition High Command have reported the Alliance fleet blockading Serenno has been destroyed. This is due in large part to the shrewd tactics of Ascendancy Admiral Bri’jien’nuruodo.

Bri’jien’nuruodo, who Chiss news sources are hailing as, “The Savior of the Ascendancy” has been making life difficult for Coalition Naval forces since his promotion to Admiral.

Even the Chiss, a race with a long and proud military tradition, have not seen a leader of this prowess since Grand Admiral Thrawn; and, Ascendancy officials have sought to capitalize on that fact to boost morale of its military and citizens. Already military and news sources have hailed him as the second coming of Thrawn, and have pushed him towards taking up the mantle in an effort to boost spirits in what has been a difficult season for the Ascendancy military.

Between the revolutions in the former Northern Commonwealth as well as the once strong Coalition counter assault, rumors of the Ascendancy’s weakening grasp on the outer rim were rampant. Now as the revolts quell, the Alliance fleet is being pushed back, and the face of the Ascendancy military has a new intimidating face, such rumors of Chiss weakness and beginning to be quieted.

Will Admiral Bri’jien’nuroudo really take up the mantle of Thrawn? Or is this just verbal intimidation and hype? And if it’s not, what will this mean for the rest of the Coalition worlds, as fringe planets fear Chiss invasion? Only time will tell.

288.21 // Massacre on Serenno

Sources inside Coalition High Command has confirmed locals in the small town of Spince on Serenno have been brutally murdered by Chiss forces.

Exact details are still unclear, but from what we could gather a group of local citizens, inspired by the recent uprisings against the Chiss conquerors, were able to obtain weapons and opened fire on a local garrison of troopers.

Upon chasing the dissidents into hiding, the troopers evacuated Spince and dropped several pods among the city. Those pods released an unidentified horde of beasts that tore the townspeople to shreds before hunting down the rebels. The brutality of this counterstrike has been referred to by those in government as the Spince Massacre.

Is this new type of chilling bio weapon a sign of things to come? How much further will the Chiss sink in their mad quest for power? And what terror will they unleash on the galaxy next? Only time will tell, but we here at GHN will keep you apprised of any and all updates as they happen.
