281.07 // Superstar Smashball Player Enlists in Coalition Army

Taris

Hazim Kisi

The Coalition’s newest recruit is in all probability the most famous to date, as star passer Hazim Kisi of the Corellian Dreadnaughts has shocked the sports world by announcing his enlistment into the Coalition Military in a press conference early this morning. Kisi, one of the greatest money earners in the history of the sport, will be entering as a base Private in the Coalition Army and will  subsequently be shipped off to to join the 627th Legion on Muunilinst within a matter of hours from the breaking of this report.

The reasons for Kisi joining the armed forces are as shocking as they are dubious, as he had never spoken of anything related to the war up to this point. Giving up millions of credits in the voiding of his contract, Kisi nevertheless appeared  jovial and excited about his decision as he commented:

I’m going out there to protect my babies. It’s time I stopped running from the railers on the other team and instead carved up some Chiss [expletive] for our freedom. For anyone who questions what made me all of a sudden come to this decision, they can shut their yaps when they know it was because of a calling. I asked myself, ‘what am I doing with my life?’ and decided I had to reach higher. It’s a challenge, but an honorable one, and I can’t wait to get out there with my brothers and sisters in uniform.

In a further showing of his enthusiasm, Kisi had his regulation haircut done right on the scene, as his trademark sideburns and heralded bangs were obliterated, if at least considerably shortened. Thousands of women from around the Galaxy have since shaved their own heads as a sign of loyalty to Kisi, according to reports.

Hazim Kisi leaves eight sons and six ex-girlfriends to support him throughout his stay in the Outer Rim, in addition to his millions of fans that will undoubtedly shout his name whenever they speak of the war and its champions.

281.05 // Espionage Still Important Player in War, Insiders Say

Anonymous insiders close to the Galactic Alliance have released minimal yet pertinent information to GHN regarding the prevalence of espionage in the context of war. According to reports, Alliance Intelligence agents have been sifting through the ranks and operations of the Coalition since the time of its militaristic reactivation, ranging from the domestic protection of the Core worlds to the embattled furies of the major warfronts. It has been claimed that the findings of the GAID have been “invaluable” in adding to the success of Coalition forces, apparently to the extent of influencing the loss and recapture of planets themselves.

Of course, where one side finds certain tactics to be useful for their own devises, it is likely that the other has employed the same strategy as well. Dozens of Ascendancy agents have been taken into custody since the war’s inception, though that is apparently simply the lightning rod of the skyscraper, as it has been estimated that hundreds of enemy agents are operation within territories protected by the Coalition. Even more intriguing is the heavy speculation that former GAID agents have defected to the Ascendancy or become triple agents, something that the GAID is surely keen on correcting.

While the works of undercover agents are not often reported, and for good reason, it is important to take note of the effects of their undertakings in war. As the brave men and women of the Coalition sacrifice themselves in shining armor, the shady specters of the GAID pave the way for aiding those troops and saving lives– something for which families with a member in service can truly be thankful.

281.03 // War Continues to Greatly Affect Socio-Economic Climates

An extensive poll conducted by Galactic HoloNews shows that on the whole for galactic citizens, the ongoing war has affected everyday life significantly, as 46% claim that the war has “affected their lives partially”, while 28% say that it has “affected their lives greatly”. These citizens, made up of peoples from both the Alliance and Commonwealth, also place the majority of blame for the slipping economic climate on the shoulders of the war, with an overwhelming majority of 77% saying it is indeed the chief cause of the recent recession.

Politically however, the two chief members of the Coalition are split in terms of their citizens’ approval. While the Commonwealth leadership under Prime Minister Selanne sits atop a commendable approval rating of 65% of polled citizens, the Galactic Senate under Chief of State Aquitenne sloshes around helplessly in the political sewers of a 22% approval rating, respectfully. Despite the significant surge of new blood into the Senate, there seems to be no tangible change to policy outside of the lifted ban on Jedi, resulting in a negligible difference when being compared to the previous Congress.

In all, stories such as the continued threat to the Corporate Sector and the disastrous invasion of Taris only fuel the fire for a deteriorating morale amongst citizens under the protection of the Coalition. With recent reports showing that the Lvcam system has likely been subject to another invasion by Ascendancy forces, it seems a turning of the tide is still in reluctant waiting for the leaders of what is supposed to be the greatest military might in the entire Galaxy.

281.01 // Breaking News — Taris Invaded by Mandalorian Forces

Taris

The Planet of Taris

Breaking news has pushed aside new year celebrations as the Taris system has been invaded en mass by Mandalorian forces. According to reports, Coalition naval defenses in orbit around Taris have been overwhelmed by a “gargantuan” Mandalorian fleet, which has effectively paved the way for planetary invasion just as this news was received. All persons who have planned transportation to the planet are, without doubt, vehemently advised to keep themselves safe at home.

Military insiders say that the invasion is a probable sign that the Coalition naval counter-attack based on Taris has failed and, moreover, the Coalition fleet has most likely been lost due to the (reported) compared numerical superiority of the present Mandalorian forces. No official confirmation has yet been released by the Galactic Coalition Military in regard to this speculation.

That is all we have for now in regard to this terrible news. For the safety of galactic citizens, we once again stress caution for those who have planned travel to the Taris system to remain at home during this holiday celebration.

280.31 // Bastion Capital Surrounded

Reports dictate that the city of Ravelin has been surrounded by Ascendancy infantry units, correlating with the loss of several key air turrets in the surrounding landscape on Bastion. While battalions under the command of Jedi have managed to repel invading forces from the defense of reenforced fortifications, morale has quickly taken a dreary slide downward into the realms of potential defeat for the Coalition.

Since Ravelin first faced attack from the forces of the Ascendancy on .17, the strength of the Coalition has seemingly been zapped as time has continued to pass by in its grim march to ultimate consequence. More and more, the Chiss Ascendancy has proven to be an effective war machine, perhaps superseding the heralded abilities of the Mandalorians, who are, let us not forget, waging their own successful campaign in the depths of the Outer Rim. Is it possible that the Galactic Alliance, the undisputed heavyweight backing the Coalition, is not as strong as we once thought?

We must now force ourselves to look back upon preceding events and question the reasoning behind our current state as a Galaxy. Why did the Ascendancy act so boldly in invading the now defunct Northern Commonwealth? For what reasons did the Alliance stay idly by until the Mandalorians pierced its borders? Did a Jedi truly assassinate Beviin, and if they didn’t, would the Mandalorians have invaded regardless? These are the questions that we must ask ourselves, lest we stand complacent in our own ignorance until the Core itself faces a poorly understood wrath of a misinterpreted enemy.
