GHN LiVE at 1800

Welcome to a special alert from GHN LiVE. At this very instant, a multitude of reports have stampeded in, proclaiming that the Commonwealth has defeated a prominent Chiss expansionary fleet at Bimmiel. While we lack official confirmation from military heads on Naboo, these reports seem to be genuine due to their sheer numbers.

If true, this would signify the first major victory over the Ascendancy by defensive forces. It is likely that once n– … Pardon, we now have confirmation that the Commonwealth has indeed found victory over the Ascendancy at Bimmiel! We have received an issuance from Commonwealth Naval Command on Naboo regarding its victory. It reads…

Our great military has at last shined through within a period of despair today at Bimmiel. At roughly 1500 hours standard, our fleet engaged the Chiss Ascendancy in orbit, finding itself in a prime position for victory. After less than three hours, the enemy was destroyed, and all remaining vessels in great retreat. We commend these heroes for their actions, and assure that the citizens of Bimmiel will be completely liberated pending inevitable surrender. This news was made possible by our great technicians at Telos, who came through where the Galactic Alliance finds itself reluctant.

Certainly a very newsworthy report in regard to the war in the Outer Rim. Galactic HoloNews will stand by diligently as new developments arise. Now, back to your regularly-scheduled programming.

279.03 // Bn’al Rhomitkal Resigns As Chief Consul of Jedi Review Board

The Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant

Yesterday, an investigation by the Galactic Insider watchdog organization uncovered previously unknown encoded audio bytes. Once decoded, they revealed a conversation between Bn’al Rhomitkal, an aide, and two other Senators serving with him on the Jedi Review Board, Janis Mikov of Opiteihr and Cyril Kaleth of Fondor. A segment of the transcript is as follows:

Rhomitkal: It’s clear…to allow (inaudible) to testify before the Board would be detrimental to what we are trying to achieve.
Aide: (inaudible)…would not be necessary in that case.
Rhomitkal: So…what we’re saying is…to show the Jedi are at the root of the problem, it is necessary to…(inaudible), that is to say, reinterpret the law to better fit it to this scenario.
Kaleth: It seems as though if the Jedi continue their unruly behavior, we will soon find ourselves at odds with not just one threat, but two.
Mikov: Not to mention the populace when the polls open.
Aide: The situation would call for much harsher measures if not for the high degree of concentration on the Board.
Mikov: Yes, but what is the Jedi Order really going to do about it?
Rhomitkal: For now, we need to focus on putting the Board in a position to achieve what we want. Then, we can deal with the ramifications later.

279.01 // Three Jedi Found Dead On Lower Levels of Coruscant

Reports surged in this morning that Jedi Master Droata Paroveid and his two Padawans Gunnel, a Mon Calamarian and Jacus Risant, a Human, were found dead late last night, their bodies stashed in an alleyway in the lower levels of the streets on Coruscant. Each Jedi suffered many blaster wounds and knife wounds. It is safe to assume that they were ambushed, for none of their attackers were found. The only piece of evidence found at the scene was a brief blood trail leading back towards the upper levels and a standard blaster at the end of that trail.

Officials on Coruscant, including representatives the Jedi Order, have not yet released any confirmed information. The Order has only mentioned that Paroveid’s son, Maloush Paroveid, the infamous Jedi Knight from Yavin IV, was unable to make it to the scene due to outside engagements. It is unknown whether or not Paroveid yet knows of his father’s death, though the Order claimed that they would alert him immediately and set up funeral arrangements for their fallen Jedi.

Now, who could have possibly taken down a Jedi Master and his two Padawans? Surely that is a difficult question, as this is simply only one of many reports of anti-Jediism related crimes and riots reported in the past several cycles. The culprits have not revealed themselves, but one thing is positive: Jedi beware.

279.31 // Serenno Rebellion Quashed, Leaders Executed

Despite the resounding success of the UCA against the Commonwealth military on Serenno, it seems the organization has crumbled as fast as it was constructed following a steadfast defeat against government troops in the capital city of Carannia. Following the defeat, the military inexperience of its members was further shown, as many so-called lieutenants continued to surrender themselves by the hour, some reportedly betraying their leaders for mercy.

The end result found the three supposed leaders of the organization unwillingly surrendered by their own subordinates to the feet of the Commonwealth. In lieu of a military tribunal, the rebels were executed by firing squad within the confines of a common alley, bringing an end to their lives, as well as their rebellion, in dishonorable fashion.

Due to the limit of information being passed along from the warzone, the names of the leaders and comment from the military are unfortunately absent to the eyes and ears of GHN. While this internal conflict may appear to be over, the true Chiss Ascendancy continues to loom closer to complete victory against the Commonwealth, their former ties in the Galactic Coalition all but a faint memory.

278.27 // Measure #9015325B Passes – Senate Opens “Jedi Review Board”

The Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant

Measure #9015325B passed through the Galactic Senate today by majority vote, opening the somewhat controversial “Jedi Review Board” effective 279.01. Although opponents of the measure denounced it as an unwarranted act against a longtime friend of the Alliance, the many Senators who voted for it simply point to what they call the “unmistakable evidence” of corruption and deceit they see coming from the Jedi Order.

The Senate Majority whip, Ghaj Nhka, Senator of Eriadu, released a statement addressing this unprecedented move:

Do not be deceived by the ones who blindly defend the Jedi, and refuse to see the truth that has been staring us in the face during these last difficult years.

As both a Galactic citizen and a Senator representing my constituency, I cannot sit idly by. The people’s voice has been heard.

Bn’al Rhomitkal, the 23-year senior Senator from Onderon, will be serving as the Chief Consul of the Board. He said the following earlier today concerning the process ahead:

We are currently in the process of appointing members of all represented parties in the Senate to serve on the Jedi Review Board, and will be soon electing a host of experts to testify in front of the Board. Whatever our findings may be, the citizens of the Alliance may rest assured that the Senate will thoroughly investigate this organization and determine whether the claims that they are, indeed, increasingly rogue are true or false.

Galactic HoloNews will be following the findings of this “Jedi Review Board” closely.
