422.22 // Lines and Revelations

We raise a solemn toast, our Borelan brandy swirling in our glasses before we drank. I’d been attached to the aptly named “Snowpiercers” when they hit landfall on the icy dunes of Alzoc III. The fight had been an uphill battle in the most literal sense. The Wyld forces dug into the icy cliffs on the approach to the old Praxium that was now their headquarters. Regiments of walkers tore through squadrons on the flanks while the heavy canons of our treaded tanks behind us made the snow shake so hard beneath our boots that it caused some of it to give from time to time. The crimson bolts leaving holes in the durasteel of the walkers so large you could stand upright in them.

When the transmission came through and the Wyld put down their arms, their general having been captured, the fight leaving their spirits, in many ways was when the real work began.

I’ve been witness to the liberation of Skynara, I’ve interviewed survivors on Ryloth, but nowhere have I seen worse living conditions for civilians under Wyld occupation than here on Alzoc. The labor camps that people were imprisoned in are chilling and defy rational thought. They illicit images from four hundred years ago of the brutal Imperial regime on Kessel of Kashyyyk. Beings of all species worked to death in the glaciers under the snow on Alzoc, mining down for precious minerals to further fuel the Wyld’s war machine.

As we take our silent shots in memory of our fallen friends, the holonews headlines scroll passed on a screen not far off. Talks of the “Coalition of Free Planets” meeting on Svivren to discuss formalizing the intersystem alliance in a “League of Sovereign Systems.” The soldiers I’m drinking with murmur their opinions. I ask Sergeant Il’tak, a twi’lek who had helped the insurgency on Ryloth, their opinion.

“I speak for my whole squad, and for the people I left back home, when I say that this whole conflict happened for two reasons: One, all of us Outer Rim people didn’t look out for each other… and Two, we believed that the Republic would do something to protect us. The Republic has shown that they only care when their worlds are threatened… So what does that mean? It means us Outer Rim folks need to look out for one another, cuz no one else in the galaxy is gonna.”

As the war moves into the later years, new questions come up. What does this region of space look after the war? Can the Empire be dissolved? Or are they strong enough to hold out to legitimize themselves as a perpetual government? Sergeant Il’tak has an opinion on that too,

“If it takes another year, or another ten years, the soldiers of this Coalition will not put down our arms until this tarnish on our solar systems [The Wyld Empire] is wiped clean.”

Let’s hope it’s sooner than later,

421.08 // Kwenn Station Warehouse Robbery

Security Forces from the Kwenn Station have publicly released holofootage that depicts a violent burglary of a storage and exporting warehouse located in the Aurek-04 habitation module.

The victimized trade company, which has requested to remain unnamed, has stated that the footage clearly shows two 20-30 year old, female suspects of alien description enter the warehouse and physically assault two workers who were unloading a delivery.

At this stage, security forces are requesting that anybody with information about the identity of the two suspects step forward to assist with the investigation.

420.16 // Empress Bellitria Fel Passes!

Empress Bellitria Fel, 96, passed away in the Imperial capital of Bastion last night surrounded by her family, the Council of Moffs, and close friends. Bellitria Fel served as Empress to the Fel Empire since she was fifteen years old after her father was displaced by the Sith Imperium. During the Imperium War, she worked with both the Republic and the Jedi Order to rescue her people from the Imperium’s brutality and tyranny. The morning after she passed away, the Royal Palace released an audio message from the late Empress.

“My Imperial subjects,

My time has come.

It has been the greatest honor of my life to fiercely serve the people of the Fel Empire, and I pray the Fel dynasty continues to fulfill its promise of a secure tomorrow. As I reach the end, I can’t help but think of the beginning. My father, Pertinax Fel, was assassinated by the “One Sith” and Imperial renegades. I was rescued by the Jedi Order and Republic, and for that I am grateful to a degree that words cannot express. With their help, I was able to reclaim my throne and save my people. I have ruled my subjects justly, and the result has been a long period of peace.

I will leave this life with our relationship with the Jedi Order, Republic, and larger galaxy strong. I have done my best to pay for the sins of the Sith Imperium.

I leave the Fel Empire to my grandson, Jarek Fel, who just turned fifteen. The same age I was when I came into power. While he is very young, he has the right heart and mind for it.

May the Fel dynasty continue to reign over this New Empire for millennia to come. I bid you all a farewell, my most loyal and loving subjects.”

There are rumors of discontent within the Council of Moffs with her choice of successor, through a reliable source. Regardless, Grand Moff Kiren Kanos, Jarek Fel’s uncle, who is well respected amongst the Empire’s military and peoples, has been notably expanding the Empire’s territory due to growing concerns of the Wyld’s terrorization of the Outer Rim. Though our sources find it doubtful the new Emperor shares his uncle’s imperialistic expansion of space, Jarek Fel has not released a statement on his uncle’s actions or following the announcement of succession.

There is to be a memorial service for Empress Bellitria Fel in the capital city of Bastion within the cycle and will be broadcasted on GSN. She will be buried beside her father. Jarek Fel is to be crowned within the year.

Private Sa’nem Haldrek was my bunkmate on board the “Trapper.” I had originally been assigned a press room, but, I wanted to give the most accurate account of the current conflict so I bunked up there by choice. Sa’nem was a Tholothian woman, in her mid-twenties. She was well known in her squadron for being forward-looking, stalwart, and good-natured, the perfect person to sit back-to-back with in a shell crater. She had a Zeltron partner back home on Eriadu and the two were bidding on a house.

We both mutually watched out the viewport, the green marble of Vohai under us. We saw the spectacle of the “Elation” detonate, all hands lost. The blood drained from her face and she looked ashen, just as I did at the time. Not long after we boarded our drop ships and descended, hitting landfall. Our assignment was to hold the landing zone as a fallback point in case the assault on the city nearby failed.

I was asking her about why she’d volunteered for such a dangerous mission, given that it had few to no incentives. She simply replied that ‘It was the right thing to do- these people are suffering under the Wyld.’ Midway through our conversation the shooting started. A force of Wyld troopers had regrouped and initiated a counter attack, hoping to surround our advanced force to cut off their escape. Sa’nem shoved me into the mud behind the pile of crates before taking two bolts to her chest that were meant for me. After the short foray, all went calm.

Private Sa’nem was one of 1,500 casualties between the fleet battle overhead and the ground engagement on Voahi. Followed by the 1,700 casualties lost on Ryloth days later. All volunteers who received no meaningful incentives to serve and defend the peoples out here in Wild Space. All doing so simply because, as Sa’nem said so simply, it’s the right thing to do.

Jedi diplomats brokered a deal in the Senate recently which is expected to commit the Republic fully to continuing the war in the Rim. The announcement was met with mixed reviews across the Republic for obvious reasons. It’s the right thing to do. But the cost of doing it is always high, and should not be forgotten.

With the two successful battles on Vohai and Ryloth behind us, everyone here on the front lines are looking to High Command for how to ensure that those sacrifices were not made in vain.

Reporting of this story given with the consent of the Haldrek family and Sa’nem’s partner.

417.09 // Infamous Gang Leader on the Loose

On 417.02, an explosive attack on one of the Republic’s most secure detention facilities lead to the escape of Naveera Sirak, the infamous leader of the Skel Dog gang. The attack left eight dead and four in critical condition. Sources say that the raid occurred during a facility tour attended by members of the Jedi Order. We have yet to reach the Jedi for comment.

The RJA and related Republic Prison Authorities have opened an inquiry in effort to determine how infiltrators were able to penetrate the prison’s systems to and release this most dangerous of criminals.

Major Rako Syvar, Warden of RJA Tarabba Prime, had this to say:

“My most heartfelt sympathies go out the friends and families of the Guards who lost their lives in this senseless act of violence. The RJA will do everything in their power to bring Naveera Sirak and the men and women of the Skel Dog gang to justice. They will be made to pay for their crimes. Inquiries are ongoing into how it was possible for the Gang to infiltrate our facility. It is believed that another inmate, who has strong connections to the gang, may be responsible for creating a breach in these defenses.”
