279.01 // Serenno Rebellion Quashed, Leaders Executed

Despite the resounding success of the UCA against the Commonwealth military on Serenno, it seems the organization has crumbled as fast as it was constructed following a steadfast defeat against government troops in the capital city of Carannia. Following the defeat, the military inexperience of its members was further shown, as many so-called lieutenants continued to surrender themselves by the hour, some reportedly betraying their leaders for mercy.

The end result found the three supposed leaders of the organization unwillingly surrendered by their own subordinates to the feet of the Commonwealth. In lieu of a military tribunal, the rebels were executed by firing squad within the confines of a common alley, bringing an end to their lives, as well as their rebellion, in dishonorable fashion.

Due to the limit of information being passed along from the warzone, the names of the leaders and comment from the military are unfortunately absent to the eyes and ears of GHN. While this internal conflict may appear to be over, the true Chiss Ascendancy continues to loom closer to complete victory against the Commonwealth, their former ties in the Galactic Coalition all but a faint memory.

278.27 // Measure #9015325B Passes – Senate Opens “Jedi Review Board”

The Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant

Measure #9015325B passed through the Galactic Senate today by majority vote, opening the somewhat controversial “Jedi Review Board” effective 279.01. Although opponents of the measure denounced it as an unwarranted act against a longtime friend of the Alliance, the many Senators who voted for it simply point to what they call the “unmistakable evidence” of corruption and deceit they see coming from the Jedi Order.

The Senate Majority whip, Ghaj Nhka, Senator of Eriadu, released a statement addressing this unprecedented move:

Do not be deceived by the ones who blindly defend the Jedi, and refuse to see the truth that has been staring us in the face during these last difficult years.

As both a Galactic citizen and a Senator representing my constituency, I cannot sit idly by. The people’s voice has been heard.

Bn’al Rhomitkal, the 23-year senior Senator from Onderon, will be serving as the Chief Consul of the Board. He said the following earlier today concerning the process ahead:

We are currently in the process of appointing members of all represented parties in the Senate to serve on the Jedi Review Board, and will be soon electing a host of experts to testify in front of the Board. Whatever our findings may be, the citizens of the Alliance may rest assured that the Senate will thoroughly investigate this organization and determine whether the claims that they are, indeed, increasingly rogue are true or false.

Galactic HoloNews will be following the findings of this “Jedi Review Board” closely.

278.23 // Trandoshan Renegades Sustain Sentiments of Conflict Against Kashyyyk, Galactic Alliance

Trandoshan Nationalism

Symbol of Trandoshan Nationalism

The effort of the Galactic Alliance to stabilize the tumultuous worlds of Trandosha and Kashyyyk took a significant jab today, as Trandoshan nationalists made a bold, albeit unsuccessful maneuver in sending privately-owned starcruisers from their homeworld with the intention of breaking the Alliance blockade in order to bolster rebel forces on Kashyyyk. Executed by apparent Trandoshan nationalists disgruntled with the submission of their planetary government to the will of the greater Galactic Alliance, all twenty-seven ships were reportedly decimated by the Alliance following the issuance of multiple warnings. Thirty persons are estimated dead, none of which were tolled from federal forces.

While there was little difficulty in handling the amateur assault, the significance of the doomed mission demonstrates a maintained disdain on the part of Trandoshan nationalists for Wookiee citizens, and more and more commonly the Galactic Alliance. Riots are commonplace within the confines of urban cities, and while the Trandoshan government is working tirelessly with federal forces to maintain order, the stability of the planet remains questionable at best. Admiral Sulweedo of the Galactic Alliance commented on the situation:

While we are finding consistent success on the isolated battlefields of Kashyyyk, it is equally substantial that we should seek success diplomatically on Trandosha as well. When this conflict finally subsides, it will be of paramount importance to have a clear path for reunification and repatriation for the citizens of both worlds. We cannot be at ease while the riots continue on Trandosha.

The efforts of war persist on Kashyyyk.

278.19 // Bimmiel Falls to the Ascendancy

IFL

An image of the smoldering ruins on Bimmiel at dawn (Source: Anonymous)

The people of Bimmiel were still in their beds when disaster struck early in the morning for the citizens of the Outer Rim planet at approximately 545-GST. Early reports from the region indicate to GHN that over fifty percent of the planet suffered heavy orbital bombardment by Ascendancy fleets, leading to the subsequent capture of the MZX33291 system in the Kanz sector.

With any planetside resistance easily eliminated by this assault, the northern Commonwealth borders have been pushed back even further following a series of crushing defeats during the last cycle. Refugees have fled the planet to nearby systems, and although the Ascendancy has promised not to execute any prisoners of war captured from the ruins, it is a fact that will likely provide little comfort to the families of the thousands already dead and countless more casualities on the surface of Bimmiel.

For now, our thoughts will rest with both the survivors and the dead who have suffered during this calamity.

Further information to come.

278.17 // Inter-Federation League Suspends Play

IFL

The Inter-Federation Gravball League

With the Federation gravball season in the middle of scheduled play, all one hundred and thirty-two teams from around the Galactic Alliance have banded together to protest against their government. This decision, agreed upon by both the Gravball Players’ Association and the Federation League Owners’ Commission, comes amid the lack of a declaration at the federal level to expel the Jedi Order from the territories of the Galactic Alliance.

Tarn Filmiir, the head commissioner of the league, explained the reasoning for the unanimous decision at a press conference on Nubia earlier this morning:

Currently, we and all other citizens of the Galactic Alliance are facing a serious dilemma in maintaining our ties with the Jedi Order. The Mandalorians have made their intentions clear, and while many of us debate their motives, we cannot deny the potential danger they represent as long as the federal government remains Huttish in its due process. In such, league play will be suspended throughout the Alliance until our government finally and justly expels the Jedi Order from our borders. We cannot stand idly by playing this great game when so many of us lay within imminent danger.

It is a curious site to see such unity and uniformity in this suspension of play in comparison to the constant will-do’s and apparent inactivities of the Galactic Alliance. While the excuse of logistics may be valid, it cannot serve as a free pass forever.
