410.14 // SUSPICIOUS STUDENT SKILLSET SEWS SKEPTICISM NORTH & SOUTH

Readers. Listeners. Blind and deaf feelers. Anyone who has a heart (or three) beating in their chest, or used to, thanks for your trust. You know, when I singlehandedly uncovered a spice smuggling ring in the Capitol Hospital on Alzoc III, and survived three assassination attempts to testify under oath before a grand jury, they said I’d peaked.

“There’s no way that woman does anything else meaningful with her career,” – Jack Ferrestein of SNN said, and many agreed. After all, an attractive, single, driven, twenty-something woman who had looked death in the eyes a quarter of a dozen times over, it’s gotta be all downhill from there, right?

And while it’s true that I’m no longer twenty-something, I am still single, driven and under more threat than ever before. You see, like a fine wine, I become more attractive with maturity. And Mama’s full to bursting with maturity (and conspiracy).

Now, I didn’t gather you all here to marvel at how well I have managed to handle my career after all these years, that much is in itself evident. No, no, instead, I wanted to talk about what is next. What have I discovered this time?

As many of you know I left a stable position on Alzoc III to pursue reports of the rebuild on Rannon. And folks, there is major corruption unfolding. This planet is falling apart. What is chilling is the lengths these antagonists will go through in broad daylight to keep the truth quiet. I am of course talking of none other than the masterminds, the Jedi Order.

This branch has skipped across the galaxy for hundreds of years, generating some of the worst examples of Jedi since Doola Infi, and we all remember what she was like.

Now, it is churning out more black sheep faster than they can be shorn. Through an investigation spanning four years I have been tracking the energy infrastructure situation on Kenzie. The Jedi, who allegedly are supplied power from offworld and do not take from the energy grid at all, were suspected to be drawing on the Kenzie grid upon their return after the Void.

When the jig came up, the Order sent their top “Artisans”, a pair of kids known as Xintr Wolfe and Aqua Sol (who has known ties to Sibbal the Hutt on Nar Shadaa). They discovered “internal sabotage” which resulted in the promotion of one of the plant workers, and the firing of the esteemed foreman of many years.

But the lives the Jedi have ruined do not end there. No, fast forward a few more years and one will discover a little explosion in Little Creek plant. And guess who was there? That’s right. The now Jedi Knight Xintr Wolfe, and our ever precocious Aqua Sol.

With the Willowinds holding Heranae hostage, and the Skavs patrolling in between the territories and beyond, Rannon is growing into a chaotic wasteland, despite the empty promises of rebuilding from the Jedi. I managed to catch Padawan Sol on the streets of Kenzie.

I began to question her about the Jedi’s habit of sending children into complex situations. I didn’t get far, but here’s what she had to say:

”The Government permitted us to act. […] People seem to believe I’m skilled! How fascinating. Unfortunately…”

Incredible. But which government? Unfortunately I didn’t get far, as my beloved recording companion G07C-H4, was remotely disabled by an unknown person! Just before falling he was able to broadcast that his systems had been compromised. It was clear, one of the Jedi was protecting their own. Is there no end to the damage this cult is willing to do?

Little did they know, I always have redundancy audio recordings. And one Nicole Inaru, another of the group that conveniently were at the exploding plant, had this to say:

”She can do as she pleases.”

What about the pleasure of the people of Rannon? We will find the truth. Were the Jedi involved? Is there a conspiracy within the Rannon government? The infrastructure of Rannon has been immensely crumbling for well over a decade. The time has come to rebuild! Otherwise, it will all begin to fall, one after another, like so many dominos.

Update: As of publishing Nicole Inaru has since been promoted to Jedi Knight.

410.04 // Disappearances spike to a fever pitch

A coordinated investigation between major investigative journalist organizations has brought to light a disturbing trend from the “five veils” systems to the end of the Corellian Run.

Over a dozen systems along the border of Wild Space have experienced an unsettling surge of abductions that have been steadily increasing over the last 20 years. These rarely reported-on systems independently have been tracking these disappearances and have been making individual legislative actions to try to curtail the disturbing increases to no avail.

While local reporting has been measuring these disappearances from Ryloth to Skynara to Vohai, our counterparts at the associated presses have collected and consolidated all of these individual reporting threads into one, umbrella survey of all of these border planets.

The result is unquestionable evidence of a coordinated attempt to take mass populations from vulnerable planets. Shared characteristics of these planets tend to be a lack of unified government, lack of industrialization, under-educated populations, and high rural populations of low density.

These trends have opened up these planets to being slow to report disappearances, or to have such a high degree of criminal activity, such as on the planet Socorro, where a true population census is completely impractical.

There is still little understanding of who is behind these mass, interplanetary abductions. Of the many criminal organizations that operate outside of Republic space, the majority of which do not have the infrastructure to commit mass kidnapping on a scale this disturbingly large. Experts are continuing to gather evidence but preliminary data suggests that multiple different criminal organizations may be coordinating together for their own mutual benefit.

We’re hopeful that our investigative report brings enough of this data to the light of the galactic community and can facilitate and foster aid and assistance to affected planets who, on their own, are unable to stem the tide of this disturbing trend.

409.24 // 2 Years on: The Duneeden Project and Empty Supermarket Shelves

Two years ago Duneeden seceeded from the Republic, becoming a purple ink blot of independence within its heart.

So how is the Duneeden project coming along? The Synod of Duneeden, comprised of elective representatives of the wards of Duneeden, would have you believe that the project has been an overwhelming success. Many didn’t believe the planet would survive 6 months without the backing of the Republic, let alone two years.

However, our sources from across the 6 wards of Duneeden inform us that crime is on the rise, alongside unemployment. Meanwhile education and health care services appear to be going in the opposite direction and are in decline. Many in the upper echelons of the Senate believe it is only a matter of time until Duneeden rejoins the Republic.

But could it all still go pear shaped? (Pun very much intended)

The Galactic Holonews can exclusively reveal that there is tension between the Senate and the Coruscanti Government fixated entirely around fresh fruit and vegetables.

Those who reside on Coruscant will know first hand the growing difficulty to attain fresh produce. Owing to the alterations of trade routes due to the independence, the specially designed ships used for transporting the produce which is grown in Agriworlds in the mid and outer rim, are now having to bypass Duneeden preventing them from refueling on coolant. As a result, it is estimated that approximately 31% of produce now arriving on Coruscant is inedible causing wide shortages.

The Coruscanti Government wants to strike a deal with The Synod of Duneeden to reinstate the old trade route. However, such a deal will surely go someway to further weaken the Dunedin’s reliance on the Republic, something the Republic are all to aware of.

Stay tuned for more information.

409.19 // A Shaky Start for Little Creek

Potential disaster struck the nacent community of Little Creek recently when the towns aging reactor suffered an apparent near-meltdown.

Councillor Alema Ann has refused to comment on rumours of the involvement of a team of Jedi artisans in the reparation of the reactor.

Councillor Ann neither confirmed nor denied suspicions that the Rannon Planetary council is putting both her councillorship and the city status of Little Creek under review in the wake of these events.

At present, radiation levels in Little Creek are said, by Councillor Ann, to be “within acceptable margins.”

More details to follow as they become available.

408.28 // Equilibrium

Please find the full statement of Grandmaster Coron Audax below.

Good day.

I give this statement on behalf of the High Council, which comprises of Jedi from Ossus, Ilum, Rannon, Taloraan and the support facilities of Bacrana, Lyta, Radra IV, Cotellier and The Arcology.

On 408.22, the High Council of the Jedi Order decided to withdraw its intention to formally align the Order with the Republic. This was done after a majority vote of the High Council.

For the benefit of those who may be too young to remember, the Jedi Order began formal talks to align with the Republic in 398ABY.

This was a result of the convening of the high council where it was deemed that the largest and most present threat to the Galaxy was systemic corruption within the Republic.

It was the belief of the Council that this corruption was centred around an individual. Lord Commander Ruun, a former member of the Order who had risen into a senior position within the Republic. After debating how best to proceed, it was decided the Order would be best placed to monitor the situation from within rather than from the outside.

Over the following years, extensive negotiations took place between the Order and the Republic. While negotiations were on-going, we worked closely with the Republic to untangle it from the influence of Lord Ruun.

We made swift progress and shortly afterwards, Lord Ruun was arrested and charged with war crimes for his actions on Vohai.

It was decided privately by the High Council that the trial of Lord Ruun would be the perfect barometer to see much sway Lord Ruun still held over Republic.

As a former member of the Order, Lord Ruun would be handed over to the Order to guard thus ending his influence over the Republic. As such we anticipated eh would try everything in his power to usurp the process.

If he was found innocent despite overwhelming evidence, we would of aligned with the Republic and continued to deal with the on-going threat to the galaxy.

The Order assisted in ensuring as fair a trial as possible. In particular, the hard work of Jedi Basrand, Evera, Javasti, Paloum, Reu, Vaan and Wrafai, in keeping key witnesses protected to give crucial testimony was critical.

The trial of Lord Ruun took longer than everyone anticipated, and even once found guilty, was subject to multiple appeals processes. All of which open to Ruuns influence.

At that time a deal was agreed upon and ready to be formalised. However, The Order stalled the ratification of the treaty. This caused tension at the highest levels, particularly between the Chief of State Lamee Ranack and The High Council.

Thankfully, there are very few instances where this affected the day to day workings of both the Order and the Republic.

On 408.20ABY, Lord Ruun appeals process was officially exhausted and the guilty verdict upheld. On 408.21ABY he was turned over to the Order for guarding. On 408.22ABY, we gave formal notice to the Republic that we will not be proceeding with the alliance.

We no longer believe the Republic to be a large or present threat to the Galaxy, to warrant a formal alliance.

We appreciate that this might be a bit of a surprise to some, for many different reasons.

We do not anticipate any change in the relationship between the Republic and the Order and we ask that you continue to work alongside the Republic as you have been doing as and when it is required.

The High Council would like to take this moment to look back at where we were at the beginning of this period.

We started this era of the Order, with one of our branches aboard a flotilla of ships, Rannon Praxeum had fallen and the death of Grandmaster Don’roq.

We end it with a Rannon Branch back on Rannon, a new temple on Taloraan and with plans for further expansion, particularly for our support facilities and service corps, to be announced in due course.

Whilst we of course have our own individual assignments and trials, We now believe the following the Imperium War, Spectral Force Crisis and War on Vohai we have reached an equilibrium of sorts, where there is a sense of balance within the Galaxy.

This does not mean we can sit back idly. We must continue to serve the force and lend aid where and when we can. We must always be ready for whatever comes next.

For it will surely come.
