Disaster strikes as a housing-price bubble across the Galaxy finally bursts, and the stock prices of all major Republic Banks and Investment-Centres crash to an all-time low, falling by over 40% overnight. Speculators continue to withdraw their shares only bringing the prices down by the minute, and major banks are beginning to collapse or close their doors to savers as a ‘run on the bank’ occurs across the Galaxy. The economic calamity has caused not only outrage, despair and travesty for the banking elite, flow of investment to businesses and the Republic, but businesses across the Deep Core are beginning to let off workers. Many business owners are attempting to sell their assets in the chaos of the Stock Crash, but this is putting millions across the Galaxy out of work, out of pay, and possibly onto the streets.

Republic Security personnel is seeing the early days of massive riots outside of banks and other commercial centers, the Police Chief on Coruscant warning RSF across the Galaxy to “Prepare for an impending wave of public disorder.” Tragically, many Stock Brokers have been found dead across Coruscant, presumably due to suicide at the loss of all of their gambled assets.

In these early days, it is unclear how this Economic development will affect the rest of the Galaxy. Speculators predict that with the loss of commercial activity within the Deep Core, the entire Republic – and by extension, the entire Galaxy will be hurt by this loss in commerce. Ex-Chancellor and leading Coruscant Economist Ja’lal Munn predicts that not only will job losses be a pandemic source of monetary distress across the Galaxy, but it will create a catalyst for all kinds of corruption and dissent, “possibly violent”, in the worst-effected areas.

One thing is certain, unemployment will create idle hands, and idle hands are the devil’s playthings. However, Holonews remains optimistic, and reminds its viewers to keep optimistic as well.

Following decades of rebuilding from the disasterous Imperium Wars and Plague, the Jedi Order finally unveils its completed plans to expand the so-called ‘Outposts’ of the Order into fully fledged Praxeums, with their own Jedi Councils and active fleet of Jedi Knights and Students. One of the newly elected Councillors from the Lyta Praxeum, Jinx Choncoban, had this to say:

“Not only am I proud to be brought onto the Council of this Praxeum, but I take pride in the fact that with this training equipment and new set of walls, the Knights of this Temple and myself will undertake the greatest challenge and service that we Jedi can do. That is, to train, to teach and to hopefully, bring the next generation of younglings to a point where they may help the Galaxy in ways we cannot yet imagine. Not only are we thankful for the Jedi, such as the late Duncan Therin, who helped to create this Outpost and now Temple, but to the Order as a whole for allowing us this expansion. One day, we hope the Jedi to be as large as it once was, and to help the Galaxy as it is truly meant to, in size and in strength.”

While some in the Galaxy have differing opinions of the Jedi, several locals near the new Praxeums had only kind things to say about the Jedi living there. Many referred to them as “helpful” or “kind”, but many were worried that in the future, with the increasing number of Jedi, there may be more trouble. One citizen of Bacrana, Boono Unan, critically referred to the Jedi as “bringers of trouble”, but did acknowledge that when they do their job right, it is often for the benefit of the people they are protecting.

The Rannon Security Force have had to deal with a rise in Reek sightings and casualties due to tourists getting far too close to the creatures. Every year Rannon sees an increase in activity from these creatures known as Reek’s, most commonly known as mating season where they will become extremely aggressive and territorial.

A local who does not wish to be named has taken the time to speak to us, and he has said. ”I’ve studied these animals for a long time, and they can be an absolute pleasure to observe, from a distance that is. We’ve had alot of oblivious tourists come down and not know these parts of the forests very well, they tend to travel into the forests, blissfully unaware that they are inches away from danger. People need to take more care around these parts of Rannon, or anywhere with wildlife really. Its not a game, people have died out here. Travel in two’s, and never alone!”

The Rannon Security Forces once again had to attend to a missing persons report, this one being nearby the Kenzie Settlement, the report came from the Jedi Praxeum. A child was spotted leaving the Praxeum on 376.17 at around the hours of 15:00 GST. The Rannon Security Forces have been ongoing an investigation of a missing Nautolan child that had made his way into the nearby forests. A team was dispatched in search for the young child, led by Captain James Yurlayo. The team were searching for approximately three hours before discovering the body of a child, around the age of seven years of age, a Nautolan. The investigation was then passed onto Chief Inspector Oranno Tal who is still investigating the scene.

Chief Inspector Oranno Tal says, “The body was discovered nearby a known area that Reek’s tend to gather during mating season. This time of the year we get an increase in Reek activity and this has been the eighth death that has come from these creatures this year. We have strong evidence that a Reek was the cause of this child’s unfortunate end and the evidence all points in this direction. I would strongly advise that everyone travels with due care around these parts of Rannon, and to keep your children close. Especially around this time of the year where Reek activity is at its all time highest. Our investigation is still ongoing as to how this child even ended up here, alone, and if anyone is to blame. We hope by publishing this it will urge any witnesses to step forward. That is all I have to say.”

From what has been gathered thus far is that this child was spotted leaving the Jedi Praxeum at 15:00 GST, and was immediately reported to the Rannon Security Forces. All fingers point towards the Jedi Praxeum being responsible for this child, but we are yet to find out the truth. How did this child end up alone in the forests, and who is at fault or was this just an unfortunate accident?

Following a competent industry presentation, low flight manufacturer Omega Aerospace Ltd revealed the latest model in their extensive line of skyhoppers: the XMN-45. The new craft was revealed at the annual Flight And Fancy convention held on Corellia.

Omega Aerospace have been changing the face of skyhoppers for many decades with their surprising range of elegant and luxurious craft. Confirmed owners from their line include High Queen Vreela of Kanzi, Oojo the Great III and singer-songwriter Eiar Yovv.

The XMN-45 will be available from early next year, with prices ranging from 12 to 15 million credits.

Recently, the president and major investor of the Tharandon Company, Drexel Tharandon, was rescued from a group of outlaws in the Rannon forest.

The press shockingly only learned about his kidnapping as soon as he was set free!

Tharandon claims that his rescuer is a superhero who managed to infiltrate the camp of the same outlaws who kidnapped him. This “vigilante” not only managed to sneak past the outlaw’s camp defenses without being detected, but he also managed to treat some serious wounds Tharandon was suffering after the abduction and led him safely to freedom, out of the camp itself.

After being asked about the identity of his vigilante, Tharandon refused to give away his identity, stating that:”My hero was very specific about this. As reward, he wanted nothing more than anonymity, so I intend to keep it that way.”

Are these outlaws a threat to Rannon security? The local RSF leader gave us no comment in such regards.
