370.12 // InterCore future uncertain in unexpected sell-off

Stock market analysts were perplexed this morning following the unexpected buy-out of InterCore, an action that has had repercussions for many businesses in the same sectors. This news comes in spite of recent rises in quarterly profits for the conglomerate.

InterCore is the parent company of over eleven smaller companies around the Core and Mid Rim, mostly specialising in energy and research. Rumors speculated that InterCore was the side project of ex-Xycal Corp CEO. Xycal Corp, as many may remember, has been struggling to claw back profits following a devastating stock value drop in 358.28 ABY after the Seltos water contamination fiasco.

No statement has been provided for the sell-off of InterCore from any of the leadership, nor the confirmation of the new buyer. More details as they arrive.

370.01 // Mandalorian Farms Have Record Year

Speaking from his family home on Concord Dawn, Mandalore the Rebuilder, Asdral Gev, mentions the high yields and profits from the Mandalorian farm worlds.

“This past year, with the help of our allies in both the Republic and the Empire, we have been able to bolster our crop production by more than double. We are committed to continue our part of the treaties we have, with not only assisting in rebuilding war torn planets, but also resupplying them.”

Mandalore has been making trade deals and working with several neighboring planets to help bolster this agricultural growth, as well as help from a new division of MandalMotors, MandalAgriProductions. A large number of immigrants have been noted moving to work in Mandalorian space as well.

The Mandalorians previously signed treaties with both major galactic states, assuring their help in rebuilding Imperium ravaged planets in exchange for open trading routes.

While still struggling, the Mandalorian government has almost doubled their gross galactic product.

369.10 // Band dominates Coreworld charts

Upstart band Thousand Dustclouds made headlines yesterday when their single Change Of Superstitions topped every Coreworld chart. The last time such a feat was achieved was by classic Aubade soloist Rhafz Noin back in 315ABY.

Thousand Dustclouds, heralded as a return to the Leap-Jump genre, rose from relative anonymity, having been restricted to circuits of their homeworld Wukkar. However, the band came into notoriety after the track was featured in the latest Cerulean Star advertisement. Change Of Superstitions climbed to multiple number one spots in just a few days before the band were officially given the prestigious accolade.

A statement issued by the band’s manager and representative, Max Ghilern, congratulated his young protégés:

I am exceptionally proud […] of the three of them. They’ve worked hard for a number of years and paid their dues. They deserve this recognition.

368.26 // 11 Radical Environmentalists Arrested on Qiilura

11 members of Free Qiilura were finally arrested on a prospective site approximately two hundred klicks from Teklet. Among the 11 was rumored leader Nej Madas, though no other individuals have been named so far.

Free Qiilura, a radical environmentalist group, have been pursued by authorities for over a year, following accusations of protesting, sabotage and trespassing. The group regularly attacked multiple sites across the planet, all associated with upcoming deforestation of the famous Kuvara woodlands, as well as agricultural developments.

In spite of the arrests, the remainder of Free Qiilura have not backed down, releasing a renewed statement over their “protection of the underappreciated and precious Kuvara trees”. Affected businesses have praised the work of authorities in the current arrests but state that trouble and delays will most likely continue.

368.09 // Man Killed By Own Exotic Pet

Local law enforcement are investigating whether a man was killed by his pet wampa after his body was found mutilated in his high-rise apartment.

Testai Alqe, a collector of exotic species, was found with “serious injuries” at his home in the Jrade District, Coruscant authorities said.

The 41-year-old rodian was discovered by his BD-5000 luxury droid unit across three separate rooms, where he kept his pets, on 368.08. One of his more exotic animals, a wampa, which can grow up to 2.5 metres tall, was outside of its pen when his body was discovered by officers. It is thought that the wampa mauled the animal lover to death, after an officer for Coruscant Coroner’s Court said: “we have established that the cause of death was a severe impact to the head and torso, based on impact marks found at the scene and on Mr Alqe’s body”.

She added that all the evidence would be heard by Coroner Aisai Coalir in the next few days before a conclusion was made. A Coruscant Security spokesman confirmed that officers were carrying out inquiries into the circumstances surrounding death on behalf of the coroner.

Friend Galoa Fisa has set up fundraising pages in Mr Alqe’s memory. He wrote: “On 368.08 Testai unexpectedly passed away at home. He was obsessed with beasts, birds and all forms of wildlife, in his memory we have set up a fundraising page for the Galactic Wildlife Foundation.

“We have struggled while searching for holograms for his funeral to find any sort of record when he is not holding a kinrath, bantha cub, pylat, esseles, loth-cat, feeding a kath hound or tauntaun, so these charities seemed the perfect choice. In memory of you Testai… who we will all miss dearly.”

In contrast, many locals have taken to questioning the legality of Testai Alqe’s choice of pets. One of his neighbours, 36 year old twi’lek Aurra Kae, had this to say: “It’s unthinkable! Imagine if that beast had gotten loose outside? Children live and play in this area! Innocent people could have easily been mauled to death! Good riddance to a complete and utter moron.”

A Coruscant Security spokesman said: “We were called at 1703GST on 368.08 to an address in the Jrade District. A 41-year-old rodian man had suffered serious injuries and died at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
