364.22 // Civil War erupts on Shumavar

Outer Rim system Shumavar, which lies on the border of Republic Territory, has engaged in a civil war, claim reports from locals in the region. The Royal Palace at Ansun was the main site of the conflict, with several other skirmishes taking place in surrounding cities.

Tensions have been high on Shumavar since the assassination of beloved King Vyar Erinoss in 363ABY. King Vyar was succeeded by his son, Nivian, whose appointment divided figureheads and public alike. Currently, there is no definitive report on whether King Nivian survived the attack.

The Galactic Republic authorities have advised against unnecessary travel to the system, with many trade routes being occupied by aid and rescue transports.

364.30 // Hunter found dead outside of Kenzie

The mystery surrounding the bizarre disappearance of a local hunter was partially solved when a body had been found on the outskirts of the Kenzie Settlement, identified to be a Gar Izen.

The Rannon Security Forces (RSF) has yet to disclose his cause of death to the public. The 32 years old human went missing after leaving for the jungle three days ago. A desperate rescue expedition was organized by the RSF after another hunter reported about finding some of Izen’s belongings near blood stains on the ground, deep in the jungle. The man was found dead by excessive bleeding only yesterday; it was too late to save him.

His loving wife, Mays Izen, mourned him saying “he died doing what was most passionate to him”.

The match, which was held in the historic stadium in J’lal district, drew larger crowds than any in recent years and marks the end of this year’s official grav-ball season. The first rounds of the new season will start in 364ABY.

363.09 // Terrorist Attack on Du Hutta

Breaking news from Du Hutta as a large explosion occurs at the estate of the Hutt, Lnorsha.

Around roughly 0500 local time, an explosion rocked Jancola province on Du Hutta, at what was known to formally be the estate of Lnorsha the Hutt. The large explosion devastated the main building along with several surrounding support structures. Casualties numbers are still coming in, but figures currently point to around eighty dead, including Lnorsha the Hutt, along with another fifty injuried.

Local investigators have determined that an explosion using large amounts of thermite and baradium, the main components of devices such as thermal detonators, was responsible for the destruction. No organizations or individuals have came forward to take responsibility for the attack.

A Republic spokesman released this statement following the explosion.

“The devastating attack that hit the planet of Du Hutta this morning, our hearts go out to those who lost family members with this tragedy. The Republic will do all they can in assisting the local authorities in finding those responsible.”

Lnorsha the Hutt was a low-ranking member of the Hutt families, and was recently thought to be under investigation from GRID officials for people trafficking.

We will keep you updated as more details come to light on this terrible story.

363.05 // Daminia – The Mid Rim’s Shameful Secret

Whilst the Mid Rim boasts the Galactic powerhouses that are Naboo, Bothawui, Ithor, Kashkyyk and Trandosha, this article wants to take a look at Daminia, otherwise known as the Mid Rim’s shameful secret.

Over the last couple of years, Daminia has looked more and more like an Outer Rim planet as civil unrest, unemployment, and poverty has not only increased, but thrived. Holonet News asks how this once independent and stable planet has been reduced to anarchy?

352 ABY – Veteran elected Leading Official Urab Pixif is killed after an attack on his private residence, plunging the planet into an unplanned snap election.

353 ABY – An election held during a period of sustained attacks, responsible party unknown, highlights how clueless and divided the planet is on how to deal with a growing death toll. No clear majority for a new Leading Official leads to another election.

354 ABY – Another failed election.

355 ABY – Another failed election.

356 ABY – Banigah Ickerto is elected Leading Official with a slim majority and weak mandate. A group known as The Fall Winds seize the opportunity to claim Daminia’s main export, Daminia Glass, for themselves. The versatile reinforced glass is made from the sand of the Glass Dunes on Daminia.

357 ABY – The Government declare The Fall Winds a terror group and attempt to reclaim the Glass Dunes from them through force. The Fall Winds respond in kind, unleashing a chemical attack on a series of small settlements and threatening larger attacks should the pressure from the Government continue.

358 ABY – The Government backs down, surrendering the Glass Dunes to The Fall Winds.

359 ABY – Without the income generated from the Glass Dunes, the government struggles to maintain public services and cope with increasing planetary debt.

360 ABY – Last ditch attempt to take the Glass Dunes from the Government fails spectacularly. A state of emergency is declared as The Fall Winds retaliate with a chemical attack against several settlements, including the capital city.

361 ABY to Present Day – The Government becomes increasingly less influential and society struggles to cope. Neighboring planets are reluctant to help due to fear of The Fall Winds.

Over a relatively short period of 9 years, the planet of Daminia has fallen from a small but stable exporter planet to a name that brings a frown to the faces of Mid Rim senators.

Whilst the future of Daminia doesn’t look hopeful it serves as a chilling reminder that desolation could only be around the corner.
