356.05 // Orinda Massacre

fleeing_civilians

The news has been delayed and all stations within Orinda territory have been told to keep silence until a suitable time that the monarchy has decided to announce the atrocity that has been committed in the past cycle. Captain Gunzelii of the Orinda royal guard, nephew to the reigning Queen of Orinda, Queen Morin, has been arrested and extradited to an alien court outside of Orinda, which has already caused some controversy.

The catalyst for this event to transpire is what many people are already labeling the ‘Orinda Massacre’. During recent protests to a new reform that Queen Morin has made into law (Orinda is an absolutist monarchy within Republic Space), protesters assembled outside of the royal palace, where Captain Gunzelii and his guard were waiting as they had, quote “been expecting resistance”. It is here, outside the royal palace, that the protesters were getting supposedly rowdy, based on numerous witness reports. At this point, one of the royal guard had been knocked down and the word ‘fire!’ had been heard – this is the point that the royal guard began to shoot the protesters.

Eleven dead and twenty-three citizens wounded on Orinda; the planet is in a current chaotic mess, the queen has refused to comment on the events that have transpired beyond, quote “Justice will be served”. She appears to have taken a strong stance against the Republic extradition of Captain Gunzelii, though the Republic claims that it is because of this being a federal crime that they have extradited Captain Gunzelii. Though this essentially breaches current Republic law, it is presumed that it is because of Captain Gunzelii’s close ties to Queen Morin that he has been extradited, otherwise there would not be a fair and just trial.

Queen Morin has recently made a statement that there is to be a banquet feast soon on Orinda for this exact cause. Merriment and filling your stomachs with food, for those that don’t want to discuss the political hot-topic issue. It is said that a number of guests from outside immediate surrounding territory will be in attendance, as well as officials from GRID. Rumor has it that perhaps even a Jedi will be in attendance as a mediator. The feast is set to take place within the next several cycles after all preparations have been met.

Orinda Public Broadcasting, station 817 wishes you a good day.

355.25 // Loronar Power Cells recalled by manufacturer

powercell

Loronar Galactic has issued a warning over their most recent generation of power cells, recommending that any recent purchases be returned as soon as possible.

According to the warning, a fault was discovered in a small minority of mark 6 power cells which could cause a leak in the external casing and damage the appliance. Although no figures were given as to exactly how many power cells are affected, Loronar is offering a free replacement service for a limited time.

Following the costly replacement campaign and Loronar’s already struggling public image, the company’s stocks are expected to fall. Since the warning was released, rival manufacturer Arakyd Inc. has seen a surge in sales of its energy supply products.

Immara Capital news reporting – there has been a fleet of unmarked ships that has entered Rannon’s atmosphere. A series of ships were spotted by a RSF patrol in Sector 08. As you can see from the image there are two ships that with what look to be armed men surrounding them. We’ll take it over to Chief Constable Runen Ouzon who has more information on the sighting:

“Yes, these unmarked ships miraculously somehow made it past our orbital defences. We believe that there could of been a possible inside man though we aren’t currently sure. I am currently in meeting with the Rannon Council to discuss matters further though we do believe that these people are apart of a crime syndicate based on Nar Shaddaa. That is all.”

The RSF has ask that nobody tries to engage or communicate with these armed men as they are highly dangerous and could pose a threat to anyone.

Local reports indicated that the ambassador’s transport crashlanded en route to a diplomatic intervention. Ambassador Keew was missing for a total of 11 days and earlier his spokesperson released a statement about his experiences:

“However, I would like to take this moment to extend my gratitude to the various Republic and Republic-affiliated forces who ensured my recovery and safe return to Tibrin.”

The remainder of the statement emphasized the need for togetherness in trying times and a promise by Ambassador Keew to return to his work after a brief respite.

354.12 // Power Flux Hits Rannon

powerflux

Immara Capital news reporting – An unprecedented power flux has occurred since the late hours of last night. Power across various settlements has been intermittently lost. It is cautioned to remain inside your settlements while the situation is being handled, to stock candles and foodstuffs. More details from our reporter, Siri Manova:

“This is Siri Manova reporting in from Maritez!

It has been noted that power outages have occurred in many settlements across Rannon! Citizens have noted times of complete darkness from the late night hours! While some of the larger settlements are experiencing major setbacks, the smaller settlements appear to be finding themselves brought to a standstill, without the required power to run their usual day to day appliances. Businesses have had to close during the hours of power downtime, and some have found their productions brought to a complete halt!

Nothing like this has been seen since the Great Blackout of 278 ABY! Marvelous, isn’t it? While this has hardly been a black out, many report that power is intermittently active, sometimes disappearing from minutes at time, to hours! Though, one report has mentioned the complete loss of power for five hours.

Officials from the Immara Power Limited have responded, saying power will be restored and running as smooth as an aiwha’s back any day now. Security officials have not yet deemed this loss of power as sabotage, but rather, the very rare occasion of power failure. Here’s hoping to better, brighter days where our caf machines will pump their glorious liquid, and our shops wild with customers!

This is Siri Manova, your ever present news reporter, chasing news right back to you. Back to you, Immara Capital News.”

Yes.. thank you Siri. Always a pleasure.
